World Health Organisation

AGENDA:

“Confronting disparities in the ethical obligations of health funding and of pharmaceutical companies”

The World Health Organization (WHO) committee will engage in critical discussions about the ethical disparities in health funding and the responsibilities of pharmaceutical companies within global health systems. Delegates will examine pressing issues such as unequal access to healthcare, the exploitation of vulnerable populations by the pharmaceutical industry, and the significant funding gaps that hinder the delivery of essential health services, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The committee will explore how the commercialization of healthcare has led to inefficiencies, inflated drug prices, and limited access to life-saving treatments for millions of people.

The agenda aims to promote equitable health solutions that prioritize the well-being of individuals over profit. By fostering discussions on ethical practices, delegates will work towards creating frameworks that ensure healthcare is accessible, affordable, and delivered with integrity. This session will explore how to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable for their role in global health, advocate for fairer distribution of resources, and strengthen global health systems to ensure that no one is left behind. The ultimate goal is to create a more just and sustainable global health landscape, where commercial interests do not overshadow the fundamental right to health for all.
